PIDP 3260 – Week 6 – 5 Year Vision as an Instructor

In 5 years I see myself as continuing at BCIT as a top-ranked instructor with improved curriculum by bringing in new materials and courses.  I will continue to bring in my industry experience straight from my IT businesses as well.

3 – Step Plan

1.) Revamp all of my courses by using the skills I’ve learned in PIDP.

I believe this will take 1 year to do it really well, as I will go through all the learning outcomes of my courses, update the course outline and then update each lab and each lecture, while adding infographics and videos to make my presentations more rich.

2.) Add elements of AR to my course

AR is a complicated subject but I would like to add augmented reality to my courses which I believe will easily take 2-3 years.

3.) Create a blockchain administration, AI computing course

I would like to take my experience in blockchain and make it fit into my institutions current offerings by focusing on the security and administration of blockchain technology, servers, clients and payment platforms that the next generation will likely be responsible for creating and maintaining.

In addition I would like to offer an AI computing component that will automate some of the administrative tasks that administrators do, so the computer can really start to do some thinking.

I believe each course would take a minimum of a year each.

My 5-year plan is ambitious but I believe if I approach it with the savvy and intensity of my PIDP that I will be able to achieve all 3 visions that I have planned

Business and technology have always gone hand in hand for me, and now I've built nearly 20 years of expertise. A few notable achievements: -> Tier III-Designed & deployed multiple mission critical datacenter environments in Canada, US, Hong Kong, Singapore & China. -> Software Engineering: Created a Linux OS from scratch, including a custom kernel to maintain millions of dollars in client infrastructure, deploy and report as needed. Created the “Windows Geeks” and “Password Pros” Windows Password Reset software recommended by Microsoft. -> Business Negotiations: Conducted intensive negotiations with branches of the Peoples Republic of China and the various state-run Telecom operations including China Telecom and China Unicom for access to their trillion dollar backbone infrastructure. We were the first western company to have such network access where other IT companies such as Vodafone and Google failed. -> Cloud Infrastructure Creation: Created the first proprietary “Clustered Cloud Architecture” that rivals competing Google, IBM, Microsoft & Alibaba alternatives. I'd love to chat #IT or #Linux or even #Business, so don't hesitate to connect. Cheers!
