We Should All Prepare To Be Russian
Keeping politics aside, many now understand how in our world any country could be treated like the “Russians”. We’ve seen US threats turn into reality such as the war on Venezuela, Iran and threats against many other countries whether Canada, Greenland, Mexico, Columbia to name a few.
So what does it mean to be Russian in an economic and digital sense? Russians were first kicked off the international finance system/SWIFT, repeatedly sanctioned, and even kicked off the internet such as Russians being banned from US big tech platforms whether Google GCP, Azure, AWS etc… And what should scare you the most is that these bans and sanctions are indiscriminate, it does not matter whether someone in Russia was part of the war, or whether or not they agreed with it, they were all sanctioned.
Where did Russians find safety and sanctuary? They did it in third countries and locations such as the United Arab Emirates (UAE), China and notably Hong Kong. Hong Kong is an autonomous territory of China with a British Based rule of law, and they declined to implement the sanctions against Russia and even specific targeted sanctions against individuals, since they were not legitimate sanctions brought through the UN.

The US used threatening language against Hong Kong:
“The possible use of Hong Kong as a safe haven by individuals evading sanctions from multiple jurisdictions further calls into question the transparency of the business environment,” he said.
Hong Kong’s John Lee responded:
We can clearly see that Hong Kong has a strong rule of law, which is not bound by the opinions of the US or its allies. This is why, many companies keep relocating to Hong Kong, because Hong Kong does not discriminate or use politics as a financial weapon.
