I ping’d all of Google bots IPs and here is what I found

I pinged all of Googlebot’s IPV4 addresses from the Vancouver, Canada area and here is what I found:

Here is what it looks like in a spreadsheet (numbers are in milliseconds).

What I find interesting is that 70/132 ranges have a ping between 48.6 and 59.5 milliseconds which places these in a cluster that could be anywhere from Chicago, Detroit to Kansas/Midwest US area.

Then we have 28 results that are likely the North Carolina/Virginia area (75ms-81ms).

9 results seem to be from somewhere in Europe likely London at about 128ms.

11 of the results are in the 142 range which is likely again somewhere in Europe.

The bottom line here is that we can definitely say 98/132 ranges are certainly US based/US centric and despite having worldwide datacenters, the majority of Google’s bots live in the US and MOST do not live on the Westcoast.
