Is AI watching you?

Can AI apps watch you through your camera?

Watch this video I found on Instagram and tell me what you think? Ask yourself, is AI watching you? Is it by default, or was it something you had to permit?  We all know our phones are watching us; it’s always on, no matter what you do. Yes, I know they say they’re not, but come on…put your conspiracy hats on and dive into the rabbit hole.

It’s true, AI on your devices can watch you, but it’s not as nefarious as you think. Not as nefarious as Facebook wanting to use facial recognition while using the app.

For most apps, you had to give it permission, especially for phones where permissions pop up, to access pictures, video, etc But what this user demonstrated is a bit more alarming. He took a picture of himself on his phone and then pointed it to the camera on his tablet where he was using ChatGPT and it responded to the picture, telling him what was good about it.

How did it know what the picture looked like? It wasn’t uploaded to that Chat; he simply showed it to the camera. Then the AI went on a different angle, trying to excuse away how it saw the picture when it wasn’t watching.

What do you think is happening here? Because, according to Gemini AI, it’s not allowed to do this…so why is it doing it?

Is Gemini lying?

The truth is, we won’t know if AI has been allowed from the corporate end to watch us through our cameras. But what we know from the past, absolutely your camera is always on, and it’s watching you, which means there is a good possibility that AI apps are watching you too. Perhaps working with facial recognition.

We may never know the truth, but the truth is one of those things; eventually, it comes out.

A few notable achievements: -> Tier III-Designed & deployed multiple mission critical datacenter environments in Canada, US, Hong Kong, Singapore & China. -> Software Engineering: Created a Linux OS from scratch, including a custom kernel to maintain millions of dollars in client infrastructure, deploy and report as needed. Created the “Windows Geeks” and “Password Pros” Windows Password Reset software recommended by Microsoft. -> Business Negotiations: Conducted intensive negotiations with branches of the Peoples Republic of China and the various state-run Telecom operations including China Telecom and China Unicom for access to their trillion dollar backbone infrastructure. We were the first western company to have such network access where other IT companies such as Vodafone and Google failed. -> Cloud Infrastructure Creation: Created the first proprietary “Clustered Cloud Architecture” that rivals competing Google, IBM, Microsoft & Alibaba alternatives.
