Trons Disappointed Fans

Fans That Disappoint

Fans and supporters took to social media to show their disappointment after the ‘secret announcement’  late last night. Justin Sun and the Tron Team apparently didn’t deliver the ‘marketing & shine’ that people expected.

They were expecting the ‘secret’ segment of the announcement to have more ‘pizazz’ and when they didn’t get it, sent off a twitter storm to console each other or complain. Some going as far expressing how they need to do better marketing and hire people who can do a better job presenting with more enthusiasm….

The other side were die hard supporters (who are capable of ignoring even the bad portions of what Tron does) were saying for once something I agree with: that it’s not about the marketing, it’s about the project.

This complaining about the lack of marketing is a serious issue for me. In an age of ICO scams because of all the marketing glitter, you would think the project is what matters most, not the marketing. If you only focus on the marketing you’re going to miss out. And many thousands missed the followings from the Tron Secret Announcement:

1. TVM- Tron virtual Machine. Is lightweight, Turing complete virutal machine devised for the development of Tron’s ecosystem. It aims to provide millions of global developers with a custom- built system for blockchain that’s efficient, stable, secure and easy to optimize, essentially developer-friendly.

2. 40 mainstream exchanges including Binance, Bittrex, Bitfinex, Upbit, Huoni and OKEx have completely the token migration from the worthless ERC20 tokens to Tron’s mainnet TRX without any financial loss so far for the users- although not all normal users/investors have made the exchange.

3. Tron mainnet so far is running smoothly.

4. There are a total of 92,424,664,154.355837 ERC20 Tokens burnt, accounting for 92.42% of the total issued. Before the migration is completed, the remaining ERC20 tokens will remain valid for exchange at Binance and Gate.io.

5. The TRON network will serve as the underlying protocol of Project Atlas. Hundreds of millions of BT users across the globe will become part of the TRON ecosystem. BT will be the largest application on the TRON network, which will allow TRON to surpass Ethereum on daily transactions and become the most influential public blockchain in the world.

As some might know from my previous post about Tron’s lack of care during this migration, I’m not exactly happy with Tron. The migration itself really unsettled me on their ability to actually do properly what they want with investors in mind. But this ‘marketing and glitter’ issue that most of the supporters and fans are complaining about, makes me uneasy that I’m investing in something that people heavily depend on to be marketing savvy.

Dogecoin is a better investment than many of these ICOs and new coins yet it lacks excitement and flair.  Cryptocurrency users and investors are inviting an ecosystem that rewards exciting sound scams and widgets that are guaranteed to fail.  This may work for the short-term but in the long-term it will be the difference between life and death for currency, projects and profit/loss to the investor.

Tron is actually a really good project, it’s made some great strides, and taking steps in the right direction. Do they need to be marketing hype all the time, especially when Investors like me just want the straight talk about what’s happening and what they are doing.

There’s a serious lack of common sense in cryptocurrency and the investors too.

This is money. This isn’t a high school popularity contest, where you need sparkles every time they hold a dance. And this should mean a lot coming from me, considering I am incredibly hard on Tron for their fiasco of a migration.

These are not issues. Their job is to make the project a success and take Tron to new levels, not to sit there with a marketing team to sparkle you with every meeting.

We have real issues here with Tron, and none of it has to do with their marketing. People really need to look at those issues instead of being upset about the marketing or Justin Sun’s lack of ability to wooo you.

What do you think, am I wrong? Should there be more marketing sparkle for cryptocurrency projects?

Cheers,
A.Yasir

I got TRON’d: The TRX Fiasco

TRX & Investors

I don’t normally get this upset. The last time I was this upset, was with FINOM (which I still don’t have my tokens for and may never, and no help from their support or the creator).  I’ve also reached out to the TRON Team and it doesn’t look like there will be a response.

TRX is moving, to Binance.  On April 15th they made an announcement that they would be moving to their own blockchain. They told their Tron investors to move their now useless tokens to Binance, or risk losing their investment.

Migration will occur on June 21st-June 25th.

“you must deposit your TRX to an exchange before June 24, 2018 to avoid any losses”.

This is a quote I pulled from  tron.network and it’s not on the homepage, you have to click on TRX to learn this.

That is extremely dire and stressful when you’ve come upon this after the fact.  I was frustrated to see this, and I’m not alone. There is apparently a lot of frustrated investors venting at Justin Sun on Social Media that demonstrated a lack of respect and care for us investors.  The announcement back in April made no mention of the exact process or even which Exchanges would support this process. To add insult to injury they are causing a direct loss since we all have to pay fees to the Ethereum Network and Exchanger to get our real TRX and if you have get a TRX wallet, pay to take TRX out again.  Whether you have 1 TRX or 120,000 it is yours and they should be protecting your investment and you as an investor and they’ve clearly failed.

I suspect it is completely intentional as this will free up a huge amount of supply once they say “sorry you weren’t watching our social profiles 24/7 your TRX tokens are worthless it’s your fault” which is essentially the response of TRON shills at the moment or that “Binance is EOY”.  EOY (End of Year) is still not a lot of time, but the ‘kind shill’ who told me didn’t point me to where he found this information- just randomly saying that Binance announced it. Oh, so another place I have to go find information from just to figure out how to protect my TRX investment.

Then more assuringly they say “If your TRX is held in a wallet and you were not aware of the migration notice, or saw the migration notice after June 25th, please visit our permanent token-exchange counter to exchange your tokens for Mainnet TRX.

Great!. Where is the permanent exchange counter?  There is no link or information readily available.  I’m sure some shill will point out it is probably buried in some other URL but non-shills or 24/7 supporters like me, shouldn’t have to go through all of this.

The Shills & Supporters of Tron
When you go on social media to find information directly and vent your frustrations with the lack of care Tron team put into securing investors money, you’re automatically hammered by shills who think that Tron is God and they did no wrong.

Unsurprisingly, me and others who complained were berated:

Tron-Reddit-Shill

I don’t think they got the point that “normal” users and investors shouldn’t need to watch all of Tron’s myriad of social accounts and websites constantly to avoid a loss. Tron isn’t the only coin I have invested tons into, and cryptocurrencies aren’t my only investments. I shouldn’t have to worry that if I don’t pay attention for a couple of months, my investment might disappear because Justin Sun struck up a pump deal with Binance.

The shills and supporters completely devoid Tron of any wrong, and insist Justin Sun did what was mutually right for Tron and for Investors…How? By screwing investors, that’s how. By forcing us to move to Binance and lose money in doing so, where the potential for scams, fraud and hacks to happen, increase.  All the while Justin Sun’s team could have made a registered account system with the millions of ICO money he collected by Investors. The registered account process would have eliminated any risk of fraud, money spent, and saved time for both TRON and Investors. On top of this, there would be NO potential risk of losing your Tron Token.

The Tron dogs focus only on the sole responsibility of the investor to be watching all of Justin Sun’s and Tron’s multiple social media platforms and websites, instead of calling out Tron’s incompetence and lack of respect for the Investors. It’s this general acceptance of ‘disrespect’ is why cryptocurrency teams do not feel responsible to do the right thing for the Investors, but for themselves.

Conflicting And Incomplete Information
Every one of Tron’s sites has conflicting or incomplete information.  We shouldn’t have to go digging to learn that Binance supposedly honors this until the end of the year (2018, which I learned from a Reddit user, he couldn’t point me to where he got that information from though).

I think common sense says the communication was horrible on this one and they’ve made it a lot more stressful and difficult than it had to be.  This shakes investors like me very quickly since there are so many scams even with ‘good ICO projects’.  It doesn’t matter if it’s “Justin Sun” behind the project, in fact it makes it worse.  How is he managing any of this if this is the best he can do?

The Tron supporters who ignore these glaring responsibilities that Tron has to its Investors, reminds me of Bitconnect. Many people called it out for what it was, a scam and pyramid scheme, but Bitconnect shills and supporters ruthlessly defended it as a trustworthy project.  Bitconnect, unpredictably came to an end.  It was a coin that produced nothing and who’s sole value was derived from shills who pumped and dumped it as part of the pyramid scheme/scam. Making millions and screwing real investors in the process.

The shills would have you think something is wrong with you for being upset or out of the loop for a few months but clearly there has been nothing but confusion and frustration since the start of the very unclear path forward:

Justin Sun Announces Tron Migration, Confusion Reigns

https://medium.com/tron-foundation/trx-migration-notice-34de281ebbbd

I’m not saying TRX or TRON is a complete scam but it operates in a very shady way in my opinion.  I’ve taken a blasting by their supporters (AKA shills who find it unreasonable that I am not on multiple social platforms every day glued to see if I can potentially lose my investment).  That’s ridiculous and I don’t think anyone should accept this.

On top of this, I and many Investors do not like keeping things on Exchanges where hacks are often. If you have never lost from a hack, then you don’t know what it feels like, so I’d like for you to sit back down. But Luckily there is a TRX wallet at least to move your real TRX to once you have moved it to Binance.

So Why Did Tron Do This?
Here’s what happened.  In April the Tron Team announced the move to MAINNET or essentially their own cryptocurrency blockchain separate from Ethereum tokens (the worthless ones they gave us in place of the real TRX).  I think it’s wrong to do it this way, since their website has a dire prediction that if you don’t move your tokens to an exchange like Binance, then you’ll lose your investment because they are literally burning and killing the Ethereum tokens they sold you.  What if you don’t have Binance or can’t get on? They didn’t take that into consideration or care.

This is completely wrong!

The Way It Should Have Been Done?
They should have registered all of their investors and token holders in their own system and simply e-mailed everyone or based it on the Ethereum blockchain token holders.

It’s like the bank telling you they closed your account, now you have to exchange all your money for real money at a cost to you, and you should have known because you should have been following their multiple social profiles and websites, all with differing and conflicting information.

Yes, Tron’s literally telling Investors ‘ you should have been able to piece it altogether after some detective work because we struck a deal with Binance and couldn’t be bothered to make a registration system, which would have been at no cost to you and at no risk to you….And yes Tron supporters are literally saying this with gusto, even hashtagging Justin Sun to garner attention for their undying and blind support.

The Good News Though?
It looks like you have until the end of the year with Binance to do this, but as mentioned their site says if you didn’t do it in June you’re done for. So if you haven’t done it already, do it now. Since I don’t like keeping stuff on Exchanges, I’ll be moving it into a wallet quickly.

It’s really simple, all TRON had to do was create a unified system that would just directly e-mail their users this information.  They surely collected enough of our coins to the tune of millions to have the resources to make that system. Besides that, I think a few months is completely inadequate notification. What if someone went overseas or on vacation?  I imagine there will be some in this category who come back in 2019 and ask how their TRON tokens disappeared and they didn’t get their TRX.

I think it could be argued it was ill-thought, ill-mannered and essentially negligent to force users to move their tokens with such short notice.  If they were going to do it this way, they at least should given an unlimited amount of time to exchange the worthless Ethereum tokens to the real TRX.

Justin Sun
This move is a a huge security issue.  How on earth do they go and ask people to move their tokens to an exchange where they could be hacked?  How about all of the typical phishing scams which I am sure we will see, that will be tricking people into sending their tokens and coins into the hands of hackers.  By encouraging people to only go on Social Media which is insecure and commonly hacked, it is simply inexcusable that Justin Sun’s team would do things this way.  The website doesn’t make things clear enough and it should be the main or primary source of easy to find information about these issues.

I think people look too much at “Justin Sun” is behind this and don’t actually look at how the project is being managed.  It’s definitely lost my confidence now.

I do think TRON is a good project and a good idea.  Will it last and succeed? Maybe and I hope my investment will succeed.  But it reeks of the typical issues that a lack of common sense is being used to handle the very basic aspects of this project. Not to mention of lack of respect for the Investors, and anyone who calls them out is automatically bashed, or accused of spreading FUD.

Cryptocurrency companies and teams have to start valuing the investor and do things in a simple and common sense way that protects us and makes us feel confident in our investment.  TRX has lost my trust over this and clearly a lot of others who are frustrated (at least the normal ones who don’t monitor the TRON social accounts 24/7).

The future is bleak for Tron if this kind of ‘care’ is given to investors. But I’m hopeful that this will be the last time something like this will be handled in such a poor way.

Why Deleting Facebook Is Futile Unless…..

I’ve had this conversion with a lot of people over the years and what I’ve found is that the majority of people are complacent about privacy and security.  In a way it is good that some have woken up to what Facebook is and has been doing but this idea of some floated around that “I will trust Facebook until it gave me reason not to”.  This is a completely flawed idea in my opinion.  Facebook was never trustworthy and its TOS always gave it a right to violate your privacy, harvest your data for both government and marketing purposes etc… In fact Google, Gmail, Hotmail, Telegram, Whatsapp and the list goes on are free for a reason.  One, they make money by spying on you and they also provide a great backdoor to the NSA to spy on you (hopefully everyone now understand the PRISM spying network).

There were times where some would debate about the length and depth of spying by major free services but this is no longer in debate.  If you are using these freebie services and just delete Facebook alone you haven’t done enough.

Here are some steps to secure yourself and your privacy:

Delete Everything!

Seriously stop using these free chat and e-mail services and tell your friends and family that you won’t communicate via those mediums.

Secure Your E-mail

Use your very own, owned e-mail server with encryption including GnuPG to encrypt e-mails in both transit and storage.  There are providers who can get you a VPS or full Dedicated Server for this purpose.  You will probably find that your e-mail stops going missing, is fast and more reliable to boot!

Stop Using US Based Massive Cloud Servers

This could be in the form of an Amazon, Microsoft, Alibaba VPS instance but you can expect that those services will not be keeping your data private and most likely have been obliged to allow backdoor access to your server and data.

Another type of user would again be those who “store data in the Microsoft, Google or Apple Cloud”.  Stop using those services if you value your privacy.

Secure Your Chat

Everyone likes instant chat but did you ever wonder why all the traditional chat services like ICQ and MSN Messenger shutdown?  My belief is that being forced to chat on your phone makes it easier to both identify and track you but also to spy on you.  Once again top offenders are Telegram, Whatsapp and any similar ones.

To secure your chat you should run your own encrypted chat server.

These are just a few common sense things you can do to make it much more difficult to have your rights and privacy violated.  Personal and intimate moments shouldn’t be uploaded to the Cloud for corporate and government agencies to peruse!]

In general try to think in a security minded way perhaps as you would your house.  Would you feel secure at home if you knew your living quarters was shared with multiple people or that it was being spied on constantly.   Think about steps you would take to protect your house or property from intruders and spies.  Your digital house works the same way, so be sure to keep the keys and access in your control and not that of a third party which can’t be trusted.

Videoblocks.com Scam Review Complaint

I don’t know why but I’ve never encountered so many online scams in my life!  Gone are the days where things were fairly normalized and most online stores and sellers were generally honest.  I thought these tactics were a thing of the past in the wild wild west of the web but in comes videoblocks.

They seemed good enough and their offer was reasonable at $149 USD/year for unlimited downloads to their footage.  This was confirmed on their main site and screenshots during the offer.

Videoblocks-scam

A few days later I received this e-mail from them saying they will randomly bill me for some trial I didn’t agree to in 2 days!  Also note there is no information on how to stop the billing.

Note the timestamp is on 2018-03-09

Videoblocks-scam-billingemail

However on the same day they billed me (apparently 2 days means the same day to them)! To be clear I didn’t signup for any trial or authorize any further billing!

Videoblocks-scam-billing

I immediately fired off an e-mail telling them what I thought about being billed without my authorization or knowledge.

Videoblocks-scam-billing-email

There was never any mention of this during my signup but I am told it is crammed into their TOS.  This is clearly deceptive and a scam in my opinion.  Even though I responded to the e-mail right away telling them I didn’t agree to it they are still trying to steal my money!

I’ve included the response from Videoblocks.com below.

Rick Jernigan replied:

The problem with their response is that I didn’t agree to anything they signed me up on their own for some bogus trial I wasn’t notified of and then instantly billed me.  There was no mention of a $198/year package anywhere on their signup form or their website at all.

Because of this I don’t trust them and I will never use them again and sure hope they don’t charge my credit card again for some other random services or trials that I didn’t agree to!

There are also numerous complaints identical to mine on this issue: https://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/videoblockscom/reston-virginia-20191/videoblockscom-footage-firm-deceptive-free-trial-reston-virginia-717040

Decentralized Search Engines to Rival Google Based on Blockchain from Bitclave

I haven’t covered it in my blog here but many know the blockchain technology made popular by Bitcoin has other possibilities such as sharing data, files etc and one of the latest manifestations is the “Bitclave” project. The website doesn’t detail some of these things but here is what I gather and I apologize if it’s not 100%, but here is what I break it down as:

#1) Bitclave is a decentralized search engine based on blockchain technology.
#2) Bitclave has CAT which is it’s own cryptocurrency based off the same blockchain meant to be used as currency.
#3) Bitclave is unique in that unlike the current big search engines, they will not be freely selling your information to benefit unknown third parties.
#4) Bitclave is not only a decentralized search engine and currency but it also rewards you for engaging in particular offers if you want to buy a car or house, for engaging with particular companies and offers (even if you don’t buy) you are rewarded with some CAT currency.
#5) Your information is under your control and completely private so you can choose when and how to sell it for big money potentially to third parties.

I’m going to go into some of the pros and cons that I see.
Pros.
First and foremost this is an exciting project on its own due to the decentralized aspect of the search engine. It takes it one step further by giving the user control over their private search/marketing data and even lets them directly and profit in ways that are under their control.

It will also revolutionize business potentially if things are done this way under a mutual benefit between business and user. In fact if executed properly it could end or significantly change the internet business and search model as it exists now with the big engines and social sites.

Cons

However, the Bitclave team would still largely retain certain controls just as developers of any blockchain do which makes some aspects only as trustworthy as the team is capable and trustworthy for.

It is theoretically possible that the business model above could turn biased in a somewhat similar way that the mega search engines have done things, where the rules are constantly changing for the benefit of a few. However, this is not a likely thing in the near future since Bitclave needs to prove itself and gain trust to both users and business.

Another big concern, which is still a concern for the mega engines is how would spam, hateful, defamatory and other harmful material be handled? It is great to be free and decentralized but there needs to be some legal or other mechanism to prevent abuse of such a powerful search engine. It’s definitely worth checking out to see how things play out.

Conclusion
I am very excited about this project, it is more commercialized than I expected and could not be considered entirely open source or community based but I’m OK with it as long as it is executed as envisioned it will have a massive and positive impact on the internet which benefits the majority.

Good luck to the Bitclave team they could be making serious history in both blockchain, search and online commerce!
